I've been meaning to tell you how much my mother enjoyed your book. I gave it to her for Christmas. That day she was up at 6 a.m. cooking and she stayed up until midnight--or so I thought. The next morning she told me she'd started reading the book in bed and didn't want to put it down. She's in her 80th year, mind you. She finished it in a few days and repeatedly told me it was as if you were talking to her, telling her the stories in person. And remember, she's not even from St. Louis and she only met you once. So it was a very successful gift. Next, I'll have to read it! Just wanted to let you know.

I've never met Mr. Hunter, but he was in my living room or kitchen ever night for 20++ years, which made him feel like an old friend. I miss seeing him on tv every night. Anyway, I received his new book for Christmas and am 3/4 of the way thorugh it. What an interesting read!! I'm so enjoying it. Many thanks to the author for taking the time to write about your many adventures and interviews. What an asset to St. Louis he is. From the personality conveyed in his book, I can only imagine he would be such an interesting person to know and share a friendship with. May he have great success with his book!

Several years ago a common friend loaned me a copy of "Honey Island." Through the pages of that brilliant book I was given a fore glimpse of the author I had heard so much about. It was an incomparable pleasure to finally get to meet you at the 2008 Broadcasters Hall of Fame banquet where you were duly honored. Your style, demeanor and even humility are inspirational.
